Sponsor Bhagavad Gitas for Soldiers in the US Army

Though the Department of Defense has authorized the recruitment of "Hindu" Chaplains since 1998, they have yet to attract any. It is the dream of one of our soldiers to become the first.

Previously, we have distributed the soft bound Bhagavad-gitas because that is cheaper, but the vinyl Bhagavad-gitas would certainly be much better as they are more convenient and can fit in soldiers' uniform pockets. Note that the retail price for these Bhagavad Gitas is higher than the amount of this donation. We are getting the books from BBT directly at "printed cost", so a small donation for these books goes a long way.

Please note that many Christian groups print and distribute to US soldiers vinyl Bibles of the same dimensions like our vinyl Bhagavad-gita. Certainly we can also distribute Bhagavad-gitas.

Sastra Dana: The Mission:

The purpose of Sastra Dana is to enable you to participate directly in the missionary activities of distributing Srila Prabhupada's books by sponsoring them. Our goal is to expose as many people as possible to the spiritual information given in Srila Prabhupada's books.

How Do We Distribute the Books?

By placing donated books in locations where they are properly kept and read, such as libraries, schools, motels, hotels, hospital waiting rooms, government offices, dentists' offices, coffee shops, and nail and hair salons. Sastra Dana members also distribute books to relatives, colleagues, etc.

How Can You Participate?

By sponsoring the books, by coming up with creative ideas for getting donations or for distributing books, by personally distributing the sponsored books, by telling others about the program, etc.

What are the Benefits of Sastra Dana?
